Working at Judo

Working at Judo

(calm upbeat music) – [Man] I think one of the
things that really attracted me to Judo was being part of a business that was being built from the ground up. – I wanted a new adventure and I thought building a bank was pretty awesome. – Just to really be
part of that foundation and that base to help see it grow is something that was
really exciting to me. – Which was empowering the banker again, allowing them to make
decisions and judgment calls. – It was just really
interesting to join somewhere that was doing something new
and different and exciting. – I knew I just wanted to be part of this and build something
different from the ground up and I feel like we’re
doing a really good job in achieving that. – [Woman] Judo is a very energetic place. – Everybody comes with
different ideas and backgrounds but they really add together to build a really unique solution
for our customers. – It really does offer a
little bit of everything. And it keeps work really interesting. – Coming from a larger bank, there was a significant number
of layers of management over here it’s a very flat structure. – It’s really nice that I’ll find myself sitting five meters
away from a co-founder. – It’s somewhere that you have fun, it’s somewhere that you are challenged. – In big organizations, it’s a bit rigid while at Judo is more flexible. – Our objectives are really clear, and the sorts of people
that I see really thriving in this business are the
ones who want to collaborate. – There’s a lot of trust. You get us to do something and this faith that you’ll be able to do it. – You wanna come to work
and you wanna work hard but you also wanna enjoy your work and when you’ve got good people around you to help you do that, that makes
all the difference, I think. – It’s all a team effort and I think we have a great team here. – So Judo supported me
while I was doing my degree by making sure that if
I needed some time off, that was absolutely okay
but also for example, if I had a really tough assignment, if there’s people who know a little about what I was doing in the business, they were happy to answer
some general questions or they could actually show
me how that could be applied at work so it made it a lot more exciting. – Everyone is really
involved with each other so we go through phases of run team and then there’s PT sessions and everyone goes to the gym together. – Grabbing a bite to eat with someone, or if it’s a Thursday or Friday night, drinks or social functions. – We have wins all the time with Judo and we love to celebrate those wins. – So when I wake up in the morning and I’m thinking about Judo
and what I’m gonna do that day, I have a combination of great excitement about what we’re trying to
achieve and to be honest, a little bit of fear because
we’re about to do it all. – What drives me is seeing
my customers be successful. There’s nothing like getting
an email or a phone call from a client who’s
sharing good news with you. Just knowing that you
can be a part of that it’s a fantastic feeling
and it’s what gets me out of bed every morning. – Everyone comes on board,
wanting to be a part of something bigger. – Because we’re passionate about funding, there’s major systems across Australia. (calm upbeat music) – Judo is in my five year career plan. – Judo is definitely in my five year plan. – Judo is definitely in my five year plan. – Look, I do see Judo in my five year plan and that’s because I love what we do. – So I want to be here as the
business continues growing and helping Australians as a whole. So I want to be here and see that through. – Unique chances to be at the cold face when businesses are expanding and growing, and doing really different things so for me there’s a really
good learning opportunity in there and that’s
why I wanna be at Judo. – Being here from the
start really it’s part of who I am and I want to
see the whole life of Judo and see where we are going, definitely. – Because good bankers
don’t wanna be restrained, good bankers know what
they’re doing, they wanna be empowered to make decisions
and help their clients. – Taking an opportunity that’s
pretty rare in your career to get in on the ground
floor, start with a business that’s starting something fresh and new. – You’ll always have the
support that you need and everyone wants you to succeed. – For me personally it is
best experience I’ve had in my entire career. If you ask anyone they will all
tell you best decision ever. – And there are a lot of things happening and it is very exciting
to be a part of it. – It’s all about relationships. Judo going back to the
old days of banking. Banking how it used to
be, how it should be. – It’s not going to be easy. I acknowledge that, that
there’s still, you know, we are laying the tracks as
we go but it is exciting. – What we’re doing is
going to make a difference and I feel hopeful that
this place will become something incredible
that people talk about for long, long times because we did it right. (light music)
