Video Karate Lessons : Karate Roundhouse Kick for Beginners

How are you doing? My name is Qaeem and on
behalf of Expert Village, I am going to be demonstrating Shorin-Ryu Karate. In Shorin-Ryu
Karate today, I am going to be demonstrating the roundhouse kick. Now, it is called the
roundhouse kick because this is the kick that you bring it from the back. It’s like you
are coming around the house. With this kick unlike the front snap kick, and the side kick,
you not going to be blading your foot down. You’re not going to be sticking, kicking
from the ball of your foot. This foot you are going to be striking with the flat top
part of your foot. When you come here your foot is going to be facing forward. So when
you come in you are going to be in the back stance, you are going to kick with the leg
that is in the back. Bring around and then bring it back. Now, this is the kick that
you are going to be kicking someone on the side of the face, in the side of the neck,
or in the blade of their body. You are going to come here, kick it around, and you bring
it back. Now, this is the kick also when you kick just like any kick you want to come from
your waist. You are going to come here, kick it around, and bring it back and bring it
back. This is the kick that you are when you are in back stance, you have to shift your
weight; you have to control your weight because if you do not you will lose your balance and
then you will be everywhere and you will not be able to control it. Kick and bring it back.
That is the roundhouse ladies and gentleman. My name is Qaeem on behalf of Expert Village,
thank you for watching.

  • Oh we can only DREAM!

By the way, to maximize power in the kick (physics at work here), you'll need to come up at a 45 degree angle relative to your target. Its also better to kick with the shin (most times), as this gives better driving force.

  • @Coomy13 elbow him obviously its not pure karate its just a form of self defense just A form not for everything

  • U all are just idiots. You don't have to be in shape to be a karate master. It is all about using ur opponents energy against them

  • Hi, this is Jerome from the JKA england squad, I see you are practicing Shorin-Ryu, However I would like to inform you that you are making some errors, I am telling you these to help you improve, not to confront you: In the mawashi ger kick (roundhouse), you should bend your toes back (No lazy toes) and kick with the ball of your foot, you should never lean right back as you want to be driving forward, when you kick, twist your hips to generate power, make that full extent, then snap your leg.

  • Arfon Harry Williams says:

blimey mate your balancing foot is supposed to pivot l at the end of the execution of the kick, doesn't even turn..what grade are you? i agree with 721 rodman..

  • He must have got his rank from the local family karate joint. He kicks worse than me! Bad balance, no power, and hes gonna mess his knee up if he tries to throw it with power that way. I doubt the guy takes any time to stretch.
