Mixed Martial Arts & Muay Thai Kickboxing : How to Perform the Superman Punch in Kickboxing

Hi I’m Andrew Bridden I’m here at the Arizona
Center of Mixed Martial Arts we are here on behalf of expertvillge.com with me is Sonny
Diaz and we are going to be demonstrating the superman punch for you today. The superman
punch is a technique it is in a traditional Muay Thain and it is a very flashy technique.
Not something we teach as a bread and butter technique it is really not something for beginners
however, it is a powerful punch and it does have it place. In fact in Thailand Thai boxing
promoters would actually pay fighters more money if they use this technique to finish
a fight. Basically the way this technique is performed is my reverse leg is going to
come forward and as this one comes back the punch comes forward and the leg kicks back.
The leg is almost acting as counter balance so I could put all my body momentous and power
into the punch. So fast it is going to look like this. It is a very powerful punch it
will do a lot of damage when it lands. Really the one time you really want to use it if
you already have your opponent dazed a little bit. So say I attack Sonny with a right hand
and he is a little wobbly you know he just got punch in the face I could follow that
up with the superman punch. Again you have to be very selective when you use this. If
I throw it with Sonny not daze he is going to stop me say maybe even by kicking me in
the stomach because I come and the punch is not going to land and I might even get hurt.
But, when it is used effectively it will end a fight. This could also be used in even level
like this and like that or I could even throw a little of a jumping to it and punch downward.
Some different ways which this technique could be played that is the superman punch.
