Hello everyone, we are in the training room of the Judo School Nuno Delgado. Our gym is fully equipped by Boxpt. Today I would like to talk about the different training opportunities that we have for Judo like Judo preparation, as well for combat sports in general. As we know it, this kind of sport rely mainly on functional training, because when in combat against an adversary sometimes we need to perform a group of extremely hard techniques that require a good level of motricity, this means, we need high balance and endurance, and above all we need to be able to perform this techniques perfectly. Today we will talk about some elements that we can use. Let’s start with an exercise that we call Judo Push-Up, for this exercise the athlete can use elastics bands the bands will allows the athlete to have body consciousness while performing the squats. This exercise is great for working the posterior chain of the body. The second exercise is more advance making it a little bit harder. To perform push ups we need to use our arms and legs while holding the bosu I don’t recommend this exercise for newcomers. The second proposition is all about working our forearms, as you know, Judo is all about the grips, so for this exercise you need to put the bar behind your back and work your forearm like we see it here. And finally we have a more complex exercise. For this exercise we use a Bumper and the goal is to transfer the bumper weight from one hand to another. This exercise is very specific for Judo athletes because in order to perform it we need to firmly grab the bumper. During this exercise you can have your arms extended full or half the way, this will give you different shoulder pressures. Well, I hope that you like our propositions. I challenge you to try out this exercises, please keep in mind they are very specific for Judo athletes, but believe me when I say this very simple exercises will help any kind of athlete being combat sports athletes like Judo or simply someone looking for ways to improve their training. Judo is a sport that works with the strength of our adversary, a sport that requires self control and balance from our own body. I’m certain this tools will improve your training.
