I grew up in fear. Harlem, 1970s Surrounded by drugs, gangs and violence. My parents abandoned me and my grandmother
wanted me to be the man I never had the chance to meet. Bullied I would cry myself to sleep feeling alone and helpless. It wasn’t until I discovered a box of old
martial arts magazines that I found hope. I had never heard of Wing Chun or Bruce Lee before But it gave me a newfound desire to overcome
my fears and find my way. And so I trained I trained until the movements of Buddha Palm Wing Chun became second nature to me. Siu Lim Tao Chum Kiu Biu Ji I became obsessed Obsessed with the idea of never
becoming the victim again. It was an addiction and I wanted to learn more train harder Panantukan Kali I transformed into a moving weapon filled
with aggression and hostility. Why did you abandon me? Why did you attack me? Because of the color of my skin? Because you saw me as weak? It doesn’t matter. I had to let go. Because the beauty of martial arts isn’t
about physical feats. It’s about gaining the mental discipline to turn any bad situation into a positive And at the age of 52 I’m really happy with the man that I’ve become Retired Police Officer Father of two wonderful children I’ve been blessed to overcome my demons so that I can teach and serve others and martial arts made me that person.
