One thing I want to express that, in my opinion,
and the opinion of many others, that makes Judo and Jiujutsu such a success martial art
in their own right, is that the fact that there’s this ideal way of training called
Rondori. Rondori is not a set caga. Usually in a set caga you have already a set way of
fighting or your partner will react to. You know if I were to punch her. She knows I’m
punching with the right hand and she knows how to block and such things. And it is important
to caga out of safety in order to practice these things in the same way. A rondori, the
idea behind rondori is that here and me are going to engage in a fight, but, we’re not
going to go one hundred percent. Not only that, but we are going to go free will. In
other words, we don’t have anything preplanned. My idea is I want to take her down and choke
her down. I will do so. She will defend and she will resist. So this isn’t my caga, this
isn’t a flow of movements in which its already predetermined how I’m going to move. A rondori
is actually freestyle. We will do whatever we have to do to take each other to the ground.
Choke each other out or make each other tap out. It’s very important for you to rondori.
So it’s very important for you to go to your local gym, Jiujutsu or Judo doesn’t matter,
and actually wrestle with people there. Actually practice free form fighting. Because you could
predetermine your fight at any time and you will not actually learn how to put it in practice
if you don’t actually go ahead and spar with someone.
