Hello and welcome into this new karate video, let’s talk about locks. Jason gives me his arm, his hand, so that I can make a wrist lock. Generally, we make keys to be able to bring it to the ground, to hit it or all other things after. The keys, luxations, are part of the Kansetsu Waza. They are articular dislocations. They are not made to just create controlled pain, To make him move, rotate… or to bring him to the floor. but the goal is normally to dislocate the joint (s). Doing this to dislocate his wrist. When I realize for example, a Kote Gaeshi, it is not just to make him fall. It is to break him, break his wrist. Well, I’m not going to do it now because I will not have any partners to work with 🙂 I stop before and there I can hit him. But normally, I will not need to hit him if I properly performed my waza kansetsu. Let us start with a situation on the ground. I am in a technique called immobilization. But normally, I will have to break his elbow and or wrist or dismiss his shoulder. So it’s not an immobilization technique. If I were in a self-defense context, on the street, Ok I stopped him. Is that going to stop there? No, of course, because there is always someone who invites the party, one of his friends. And if I stay on the ground to “immobilize” it I’ll be F.CK. So I break my arm and I take care of the following. But there is a problem. If we take French legislation into account, he attacked me, I mastered it and then I break his arm. It is VENGEANCE for french laws. It is no longer self-defense. That’s a big problem, cause I am wrong on the law side even if he attacked me. It’s vengeance. Be sure to see the difference. So if I do that immobilize him and I raise to manage his colleague, he will come back to the charge. If I break my arm, I am in a case of self-defense. I’m not going to tell you what you need to do, I’ve made my choice. Think about this problem. A lock is normally a dislocation of the joint and NOT a form of immobilization. Hope you like the video, if this is the case smash the THUMB UP button and don’t forget to susbribe to the channel. See you soon for another video.
